  • syn. Glyphodes lacteata Butler, 1880: 685 (LepIndex, Globiz)

Note as G. naralis is a complex of similar morphotypes this syn. should be re-assessed.

Description

This creamy yellow colour and the general patterning is typical of the the A. naralis-group. Munroe distinguished other similar sp. or ssp as Munroe Agrioglypta sp. 3 or ssp. nr naralis from Sumatra and W. Java in his work at the BMNH. RTS (1994: 186) mention two similar spp. from SE Asia but at least five morphotypes of this complex occur in Borneo. These morphotypes differ from each other in the intensity of the yellow colour, the shape of the FW banding, the presence or absence of submarginal yellow fasciae and the width of the post median purplish fascia. A. naralis has large pale yellowish patches on the FW, the post median one being a simple rounded triangle. It also has distinctive subtermenal yellow bands. Note the short dark scales on the valvae of the males.

See the similar Agrioglypta spp. 2, 3, 4, 6 & 7. RTS (1994) mention two similar spp. from SE Asia, in the BMNH collection. A specimen [RMNH.Ins. #19508] (Leiden) from Kalimantan Timur, (Pasir, Gunung Lumut Protection Forest) has been DNA barcoded [BOLD].
