Taxonomy

Agrotera sp. 9, a short series near A. basinotata Hampson, 1891 in the Schulze Coll.

Description

A typical member of the A. basinotata group. The basal area of the FW and the thorax are cream speckled with orange. Distally the wings are a deep purple with blackish antemedian and post median lineation. The FW termen and fringe is chequered with purple on white. The basal segments of elongate abdomen is patterned in cream and orange with the distal segments purple tinged with orange scales. Note the angle of the FW post median line relative to the costa and compare with A. basinotata, Agrotera spp. 5 & 8. Schulze (2000) taxon #959.
