Ambia albiflavidalis Warren
- Family: Crambidae
- Subfamily: Musotiminae
- Genus: Ambia
- Distribution: India (Meghalaya), W. Malaysia.
- Habitat: Lowland primary forest & disturbed areas 610m.
- Wing Length: 12mm
Taxonomy
The male holotype of Cymoriza albiflavidalis Warren, 1896d: 223 is from India (Khasia Hills) [Meghalaya].
Placed in Neurophyseta Hampson, 1895: 333 (which may be a mainly New World genus), in Globiz.
- syn. Ambia albiflavalis. Misspell. (LepIndex).
Incorrectly in LepIndex as a syn. of A. iambealis. The attribution to Warren, listed as Cymoriza albiflavalis Warren (as a syn. of A. iambealis) in LepIndex is a confusion between M. albiflavidalis and Musotima fulvalis Hampson.
Note Hampson (1900) in moths of British India Vol. 4: 205 lists both Neurophyseta fulvalis Hampson, 1912: 155-156 (Ill Het ix, 180, pl. 174, fig. 26) and Cymoriza albiflavidalis Warren, 1896: 223 as syns. of Ambia iambealis Walker. The latter syn. is considered incorrect.
Description
A striking, mainly bright fulvous orange sp. with curving incomplete white bands subtermenally and post medially. There are other white dotted fasciae towards the wing bases. The wing margins show a series of dark neural spots and the HW cell has a distinctive elongate black stigma. The head thorax and abdomen are fulvous.
