A brown morphospecies with a purple sheen. With its diffuse FW darker brown, edged in whitish, antemedian and post-median lines and a similar HW median line. The patterning and colour similar to Botys subjunctalis Walker, 1865 [1866]: 1441-1442 [ = lunalis (Guenée, 1854)]. However the white orbicular spot is not crescentic but rectangular. The antennae are simple, slightly pilose and have swollen bases.

It is superficially similar to Coptobasis sp. 5 but the largest white area on the FW is medially rather than on the post median line.

Slightly smaller than the majority of Coptobasis spp.
