Taxonomy
The holotype of Chilo dodatellus Walker, 1864: 966 is from the Philippines (Ticao). ms comb. n. to Donacaula (Meyrick, 1890) (Shaffer, 1988 (LepIndex))

Description
There is marked sexual dimorphism in this sp. The male is smaller (22-25mm) wingspan and browner than the female (35-40mm) wingspan. Also note the different abdomen shapes. In the male the antennae are ciliated ventrally but the cilia are fasciculate in Donacaula, not evenly distributed as in Scirpohaga. The image is of the same female specimen as in RTS (1994: 171, pl. 29, fig.2.).
