Taxonomy
Same specimen as figured in RTS; Brunei, Labi, LP (Helicopter Landing Place) 195. The male holotype of Dysodia pennitarsis Hampson, 1906:113 from Sabah (Sandakan) is in the NHM (Mi7283).
Description
A striking orange, one of the larger Dysodia species. It has a large heart-shaped fenestra on the HW. In the center of the Un FW is a dark brown spot broken up by lines and dots of yellow (RTS:126). The rear tarsi have large scale tufts.
Similar Species
Easily distinguished from D. raja (Boisduval, 1874) by the absence of a dark stripe across the abdomen base. See D. laevis for differences from that species.Dysodia sp. 4 has very similar markings but is yellow or yellowish orange. RTS:126 refer to a similar species from Burma [Myanmar] which is slightly smaller and darker with smaller fenestrae and a brown stripe across the abdomen base. See also Dysodia sp. 12.
