Eoophyla peribocalis Walker

Taxonomy
The holotype of Cataclysta peribocalis Walker, 1859: 446 from India (Hindustan) is type #919 in the U.M.N.H. Oxford. It is the TS of Eoophyla Swinhoe, 1900: 442, by subsequent designation.

Comb. n. to Eoophyla (Speidel, 1984: 36)
- syn. Cataclysta sobrina (Pryer, 1877: 232, pl. 4, fig. 3) [as sabrina misspel.] syn. n. of Cataclysta halialis Walker, 1959 (Speidel & Mey, 1999). The type is in U.M.N.H. Oxford. TL China. TL China (Chekiang Province, Snowy Valley).
Description
The E. peribocalis group is a complex. In most specimens the FW has an obvious sigmoid dark edge to the post median fascia and middle of the FW antemedian area is blotched with dark brown The FW patterning resembles Eristena bifurcalis (Pryer, 1877) but that sp. lacks the four large eyespots on the HW termen. Specimens putatively of this sp. from W. Malaysia (GTE) show distinct differences in the patterning of the subtermenal area near the eyespots. E. sejunctalis (Snellen, 1876: 196 (key), 207, pl. 9 figs 11 a-c) is very similar but has an angular edge to its post median white band. No Bornean specimen seen.
