Taxonomy
The holotype Hemiscopis cinerea Warren, 1892: 396 from Japan (Yessu) is in the BMNH.

Description
A shiny purple-brown sp. Wings with a broad brown post median band. There is also a diffuse brown spot in the disco-ocellular area. See H. suffusalis (Walker [1866] 1865) which is similar but has a golden brown orbicular suffusion.
