Limbobotys evenoralis Walker

Taxonomy

The holotype of Pionea evenoralis Walker, 1859e: 1012-1013. Comb. n. to Sinibotys (Inoue, 1984: 351, pl. 41, fig. 34).

We treat it as Limbobotys Munroe & Mutura 1970 (ms comb. n.).

Description

A distinctive orange & white sp. with purple wing edges. The central area of both wings is mainly pale. There is little distinct lineation on both wings beyond an indistict, straight, orange basal line and a partial median line on the FW. A short median line joins the agulated post-median line. On the HW indistinct orange median and median lines join subtermenally forming a ‘v’. The head, thorax and abdomen are orange. The latter with white and thin pale intersegmental markings. Note the feathery, foward pointing, palpi.

The only Bornean specimen seen is a poor specimen in the FRC [Sepilok] insect collection.

A specimen from China has been DNA barcoded. BOLD sample ID: Pyr000680 (Ratnasingham & Hebert, 2007).
