Taxonomy
The holotype of Crocidophora ptyophora Hampson, 1896: 389 from India (Sikkim) is in the BMNH. comb. n. to Limbobotys Munroe & Mutura 1970: 294 (Kirti, 1997: 2-4).
Description
A distinctive orange sp. with purple wing edges. Some specimens have more orange shading on the termen. The FW has darker orange post-median lines, a straight antemedian line and a straight basal line. A short median line joins the agulated post-median line. On the HW the dark orange antemedian and median lines join subtermenally forming a ‘v’. The underside of the FW has large leaden scale tufts. The head, thorax and abdomen are bright orange. The latter with white and thin black intersegmental markings. Note the very large and feathery, foward pointing, palpi.
