Taxonomy
Imaged specimen from India, Meghalaya, Khasia Hills. The holotype of Pharambara intimalis Moore, [1888] 1887:213 from India (Calcutta [Kolkata]) is in the NHM (Mi7356). Suggested comb. n. to Microbelia (RTS: 133).
In addition to the nominate ssp. from India it appears to have three unnamed sspp:
- ssp. 1 unnamed, Sumatra
- ssp. 2 unnamed, Philippines
- ssp. 3 unnamed, Hainan, Hong Kong
Description
A small brown mottled species with indistinct reticulation. Very similar and possibly synonymous with M.compunctalis. It has incomplete, darker, subbasal, median and subterminal fasciae on the HW and a series of triangular marks of various sizes near the FW costa. There is a black central punctum on the FW and a large dark spot on the HW. Note the shape of the HW. , particularly M.compunctalis
Life History
The white larva is a leaf roller on Antidesma diandrum (Euphorbiaceae), ‘amti’, ‘matasura’. It forms a bright orange-brown pupa in a shelter (RTS: 133). Other food plants are Antidesma acidum & Antidesma bunius.
