Taxonomy
Niphostola sp. 1. an un-named morphotype from Sabah PHS in the Schulze Coll.
Description
FW pale brownish with slighly darker venation with several large black spots two at the ends of the cell, one pre-apical on the costa, one medially on the termen and one at the tornus. the HW is mainly pale grey-brown, with a black margin and white fringes. The margins have a diffuse black patch pre-apically. Head Thorax and abdomen pale grey-brown. The females have a black band near the abdomen tip. Schulze (2000) ‘Pycnarmon’ sp. 86 taxon #640. Like Niphostola punctata Swinhoe, 1904a it has two large spots in the FW cell but it lacks the apical spot of that sp. and has three other spots one on the costa postmedially and two on the FW termen.
