Taxonomy
The female holotype of Hydrocampa drancesalis Walker 1859: 961-962 is from Sarawak. The specimen collected by A.R. Wallace is in the Oxford U.M.N.H. The type #870 is in a poor condition. Next to the specimen in Oxford is a note 'Hydrocampa drancesalis Walker is a Hydrocampine in spite of Hampson and others putting it in the Endotricha P.E.S Whalley in lit. 1959'. Genitalic slide in the BM #4627 genitalia 392-1959.

Description
A small brown sp. with marked sexual dimorphism. The females have broader wings which are more dark brown speckled with darker patches. Note the abdomen of the female is much shorter than in the male. Both sexes have a narrow orange fulvous termenal band. Subtermenally, especially toward the apex, are a few blackish spots. The wings of the male are darker in the FW sub-termenal and HW basal areas. Schulze (2000) taxon #689.
