Taxonomy
Trichophysetis sp. 9 is an unnamed series from Sabah, in the Schulze Coll.
Generic placement uncertain.
Several specimens of these small black and white morphotypes have been seen from parts of SE Asia. Here they are informally grouped into the ‘Black & white Trichophysetis’ group.
Description
A sp. with several indistinct patches of black scales on a white back ground. On the FW these form diffuse post median and submedian bands. The FW has a diffuse black spot in the cell. The HW also has several diffuse black patches. The abdomen is elongate. Schulze (2000) taxon #636 ‘Spilomelini Unknown genus sp 82’. See Trichophysetis spp. 7, 8 & 10 which are similar. but the lack of distinct patterning distinguishes this sp. from them.
