Taxonomy
The holotype of Orphnophanes albisignalis Hampson, 1896: 231 is from India.
- syn. Uthinia albostrigalis Snellen, 1899: 180, pl. 8, fig. 7-9. TL W. Java (Preanger). The lectotype selected by Munroe et al. 1958: 68 is in Leiden. Syn. n. (Nuss 1998; 516).
The monospecific genus Uthinia Snellen, 1899 :179 was unplaced as to subfamily in the Crambidae until relatively recently.
Yen & Yang treated the genus as Scopariinae (1996) but the LepIndex follows RTS and treats Uthinia in the Crambidae: Musotiminae.
Description
A rather plain orange-brown sp. with paler brown HW. The FW has a distinctive oblique silver-white spot in the disco-cellular area.
Life History
Possibly a fern feeder (RTS: 169).
