Taxonomy
The holotype of Aediodes ciliata Swinhoe, 1894: 206-207 is from Assam [Meghalaya] Cherrapunji. comb. n. to Bocchoris Hampson 1896: 285.
Description
A Bocchoris sp. with five white spots, three on the FW although one, medially, is smaller. In Hampson’s holotype the specimen is bilaterally asymetric with the median spot only two present on the RH wing. The basal spot of the FW approaches the costa near the antemedian possition. The basal one on the HW is more like a broad band from the inner margin. The male abdomen is rather elongated and has a white basal segment. The males of many Bochoris spp. have densly monocillate antennae. Other four-spotted Bocchoris morphospecies include Bochoris discrepans Butler and Bochoris sp. 1, sp. 2 and sp. 3. In LepIndex as Piletocera. See Bocchoris sp. 1 which is very similar. The exact distribution is not known because of a number of similar morphospecies.
