- Family: Crambidae
- Subfamily: Spilomelinae
- Genus: Conogethes
- Distribution: Sabah.
- Habitat: Lowland primary forest, 600m.
- Wing Length: 10mm
Taxonomy
Conogethes sp. 1. A single un-named specimen in the Schulze Coll, from Sabah, PHS.
This Conogethes sp. is part of the clade of C. cf. punctiferalis sensu Shashank et al. (2018: 229) and as such can not be accurately identified except by DNA sequencing.
Description
This yellow and black spotted Conogethes has a very distinct spot near the HW base and a black tip to its yellow and black spotted abdomen. It has smaller spots much less distinct than those of the holotype of C. punctiferalis [partim] Guenée, 1854: 320. Note that it has a black spot near the HW base. It closely resembles C. parvipunctalis Inoue & Yamanaka, 2006: 87–88, figs 6, 14, 17, 17a or C. sahyadriensis Shashank et al. 2018: 215-234, Figs 1, 2, 6, 9, 12, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23 [although this latter sp. is currently considered restricted to India.] and Conogethes semifascialis (Walker, 1866: 1381-1382). C. nicippealis (Walker,1859) is also similar.
Schulze (2000) taxon #236 ‘Conogethes sp. 6’.
