Taxonomy
Coptobasis sp. 19. A specimen in the Schulze Coll. from Sabah (PHS), as C. crotonalis Walker 1859e.
Description
The wings are dark brown with a purplish sheen. They have few diffuse darker markings forming a post median line on the FW and a patch in the cell. The HW has a diffuse median fascia. The antennal bases are highly modified with a cloven outgrowth from the pedicel. The scape projects sideways from the base of this structure and it is lightly serrate and tapers toward the tip. It also has a cap near the eye. See Coptobasis sp. 18 which is similar but has unmodified antennal bases. This may be related to C. crotonalis.
