Taxonomy
The male holotype of Dichocrocis frenatalis 1863: 448, pl. 17 fig. 15 is in the BMNH. TL India (Nicobar Is,) This is the TS of Dichocrocis. Munroe (1958) lists it as in the Felder Coll. with labels:

- 'Nikobar'
- Dichocrocis frenatalis m.' in Lederer's hand
- 'Rothchild Bequest B.M. 1939-1.'
The abdomen and the wings of the left side are lacking.
Description
The yellow wings are traversed by broad blackish lines at the ante-median and post-median positions. In addition ther is a short black spot at the base of the FW costa and a large elongate spot in the F.W. cell. Note there is no additional small spot in the cell. D. frenatalis is one of the few Dichocrocis spp. with straight and parallel ante-median and post-median lines on the HW. See Dichocrocis sp. 14 and sp. 16 which are very similar but both have a small black spot at the proximal end of the FW cell.
Life History
Most verified locations are coastal and similar undescribed morphotypes Dichocrocis sp. 14 & sp. 16 are from mangrove areas.
