Taxonomy
Gadessa sp. 1 nr. Botys nicoalis Walker, 1859: 700. Specimens seen in the ARC-Tuaran and BMNH Colls. This may be a var. of P. nicoalis.
Description
A dark ochreous brown taxon with blackish-brown ante-median and post-median lines. The FW PML is coarsely serrate in the middle and it is retracted after the centre towards the median position (i.e. it loops). The FW has an elongate spot in the FW cell but it seems to lack the small punctum at the base of the cell, present in a typical P. nicoalis. Very similar to Gadessa sp. 6 but with less distinct blotchy dark patches on the FW termen and tornus Like sp. 6 it also seems to lack small punctum at the base of the cell. The female specimens lacks any spot or band near the tip of the abdomen. FW lineation very variable. Specimens of this morphotype also seen from Sabah DVFC.
