Taxonomy

Scoparia sp. 10. A morphotype seen and photographed in Sabah at Gng. Alam Substation, similar to a set specimen in ITBC Borneensis from Sabah (KML).

Description

A pale grey Eudonia/Scoparia sp. with black lineation and spotting on the FW The most obvious feature is the two large dark spots on the FW (proximal & cubital stigmas). Overall the outer FW markings are superficially reminiscent of the boreal Eudonia lacustrata (Panzer, 1804). Scoparia sp. 25 photographed at KML is very similar but much more heavily marked.

Also very similar in appearance to Scoparia montícola Nuss, 1998: 456 TL Philipines (Mindanao, Mt. Agtuuganon). In Nuss (1998) the illustrations (figs 1 & 2) of the males holotype and female paratype differ slightly in their appearance. This may explain the differences between to two observed examples of Scoparia sp. 10 from Borneo.
