- syn. Sylepta [sic] kosemponis Strand, 1918: 53-54. TL Taiwan, (Kosempo). syn. nov. (Inoue 1984: 234).
Wang & Speidel (2000: 237) treated this sp. in Botyodes Guenée, 1854: 320-321.
This species is very similar to some members of the Old World Ategumia group which we treat in Uresiphita (It may also need also to be placed in a new genus and a different subfamily). Its presence in Botyodes was confirmed by Singh. et al. (2019).
Description
A yellow species with orange brown transverse markings. The FW has a transparent discocellular mark outlined in brown and the FW has a broad brown submarginal fascia towards the tornus. There is slight sexual dimorphism the males having elongated and thinner abdomens than the females. The very similar Botys principalis Leech, 1889: 69, pl. 3, fig. 9 has broader linear markings but a smaller discocellular mark. See also Pyrausta ochracealis Walker, 1865 [1866]: 1446 and Ategumia euryphaea Meyrick, 1932, and some other Uresiphita spp. such as Botys fatualis Lederer, 1863: 376, 475, pl. 11 fig. 15 which are superficially similar. Schulze taxon #315 tmw/kitching taxon #859
